The Russell County Area Community Foundation (RCACF) is pleased to announce fall grant awards totaling $63,936, supporting projects that strengthen communities and improve quality of life throughout Russell County. From education and the arts to health, community development, and disaster preparedness, these investments will help bring a variety of local projects and initiatives to life.
Funding for this competitive grant cycle was made possible through the generosity of several funding partners, including the Fund for a Better Russell County Area, Dane G. Hansen Foundation, Kansas Health Foundation Children’s Fund, and Russell County Disaster Relief Fund.
Fall grants include:
- $12,000 to the City of Dorrance for the Halbe Outdoor Photo Exhibit
- $12,000 to Russell Regional Hospital for a Physical Rehabilitation Pool Lift
- $11,366 to USD 407 for a Horticulture Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program
- $10,000 to Russell County Leadership for a Community Transformation Initiative
- $5,000 to the Lucas Arts and Humanities Council for repairs to the Florence Deeble Rock Garden

In addition to the competitive grant awards, the Myers Family Memorial Fund is making a significant investment in Russell County through two special grants, given in loving memory of longtime Russell business owner Marty Myers. These gifts include $90,000 toward the construction of a new childcare center and $25,000 to the Russell County Historical Society for the digital preservation of historic documents.
“These grants reflect our commitment to strengthening Russell County through strategic investments in community projects, education, the arts, and public health,” said Angie Muller, RCACF Director. “These are exciting projects that will make a difference in our communities. We are grateful to our funding partners, especially the Dane G. Hansen Foundation and the Myers Family, for helping make these investments possible.”
November Is Match Month!
Community support plays an important role in making these grants possible. Throughout November, donations to RCACF help grow the Fund for a Better Russell County Area, the foundation’s community grant-making endowment and our administrative endowment, ensuring resources are available to support local needs and opportunities for years to come.
There is an added incentive to give this November: If RCACF raises $50,000 during Match Month, the Dane G. Hansen Foundation will contribute an additional $175,000 to support grant-making and foundation administrative endowments.
